Note: Children grow individually. A larger, stronger child may move to the next size earlier, while a smaller child may be comfortable with the shorter model for longer. When in doubt, body height, arm length and individual draw length should always be taken into account.
Inches and Bow Length Explained Simply
The measurement in inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm) describes the length of the bow. This is important for handling: a bow that is too long can be cumbersome for small children. On the other hand, a bow that is too short may not be ideal for larger children with a longer draw length.
From the particularly compact 26-inch bow for very young children to the 30- and 40-inch bows for younger and older children and finally the 50-inch model for teenagers, the range grows with the child’s development.
Draw Weight: What Do 15 lbs or 20 lbs Mean?
The abbreviation lbs (pounds) indicates the draw weight – in simple terms, how much force is required to draw the bowstring to the intended draw length. For beginners, an important principle applies: Technique is more important than maximum strength.
If the draw weight is too high, the child may find it difficult to draw the bow cleanly and maintain a stable body position.
15 lbs are a good range for many young beginners to learn the basic technique in a controlled and clean manner.
20 lbs can be of interest to older or stronger teenagers who are able to draw the bow safely and under control.

The Most Important Accessories for a Safe Start
A bow alone is not enough. Make sure to choose arrows whose length matches your child’s draw length, as well as a suitable target.
An arm guard is highly recommended, especially for beginners. It protects the forearm from a possible bowstring slap and makes practice more comfortable. A shooting glove or finger tab also protects the fingertips, while a quiver makes storing and transporting arrows much more convenient.
